The most important thing to realize is that meaning is from the inside out… Not the outside in.
You want to believe that it’s out there, waiting to be discovered or taught to you, but it’s not. It’s already there inside you; and it always has been.
Consider the Buddhist concept that all suffering comes from desire.
I believe this is true… But it’s only an opening step.
If you try to fight the urge to desire: things, people, money, time, meaning… You add to the burden. You cannot desire not to desire. You must simply not desire.
It’s that simple idea that is at the heart of finding meaning. That is… A journey inward not outward.
The meaning is already there inside you, you just need to get out of your own way.
